Notice of UHD BD 3 layer disc production line expansion

Memory Tech Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Yutaka Ueda) announces today that it will reinforce the production line for UHD BD 3-layer discs.

Thanks to this production line enhancement, we will double the production capacity of a three-layer disc with a maximum recording capacity of 100 GB to 600,000 sheets per month. The new line has been improved to a mechanism that can be manufactured more efficiently than the existing line, realizing shortening production lead time of 3 layer disc, and further contributing to the spread of UHD BD, whose release is increasing. This line is scheduled to start production from this month.

We have used two production lines to date for UHD BD production and we have responded with a 300,000-piece monthly production system for 3-layer 100 GB disks. With the spread of 4K television and players, environments where UHD BD can be reproduced are gradually spreading. Also, domestic release titles are also increasing, and this time we have expanded the mass production line of 3 layer 100 GB disks.

We will consistently undertake from encode · authoring to package manufacturing so that we can serve our content makers with state-of-the-art technological capabilities and services, and we will continue to devote ourselves to the spread of UHD BD.
