Microtech Systems Acquires Technology and Production Rights to the Verity Systems Printer with its HP Inkjet Technology
Microtech Systems, a leader in the CD/DVD production systems market announces it has acquired the manufacturing rights to the Verity Systems ink jet printing system based on Hewlett Packard (HP) technology.
Foster City, CA — June 10, 2011 — Microtech Systems announced today they had acquired all the technology and production rights of the Hewlett Packard (HP) based Panther printing system from former UK printer supplier, Verity Systems. Verity Systems ceased production of the popular ink jet based system in Q1 of this year to focus on their core business of magnetic degaussing systems and solutions.
“We see this as a great asset to the Microtech printing solutions portfolio,” said Corwin Nichols, President and CEO of Microtech, “The technology, based on high quality, high volume and low cost ink jet from Hewlett Packard, the world leader in ink jet printing, fits perfectly into the Microtech area of strength, namely volume production for entertainment and publishing on demand. We are delighted to complete our OEM agreement with Hewlett Packard and to engage them in our long term printing strategy that this acquisition has allowed us to pursue.”
“HP is pleased to add Microtech Systems to our partner community and welcomes the extended life of the Si1000 printer system through Microtech’s engineering efforts, said Paul Barton, account manager at Hewlett Packard, “We’re excited to see the product moving into the U.S. disc production market where we think the alliance will produce outstanding quality and value for the high volume production customer who needs a low cost per copy model.”
Microtech plans to incorporate the basic technology into yet to be determined future printer platforms under development. Microtech currently offers various printing options on their Xpress family of automated CD/DVD/HD & Blu-ray publishing systems that includes their K2 Color thermal printer, the Xstreamjet inkjet high volume system, and the Xpression monochrome thermal printer.
