Microtech Systems Announces Major Upgrades to Disc Publishing Systems
Intel® Core™ Processors at Heart of Microtech System’s Upgrades to Drive Higher Throughput for DVD & BluRay Production
Foster City, Calif. — September 08, 2011 — Microtech Systems announced today they have made significant performance upgrades to the entire Xpress Publisher family. The three model family is known as the workhorse of volume CD/DVD/BD on demand systems used for movies, games and software in an unattended production environment that requires reliable robotics and a variety of printing options and networkability.
The flagship model Xpress XL with an 800 disc capacity and the Xpress XP with a 600 disc capacity have been upgraded to the new 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Quad-Core Processors boosting their performance over 15% versus previous models. The new processing horsepower provides noticeable improvements in recording speed across all models of recorders, allowing formats like Blu-ray Disc™ to reach maximum speeds for increased disc throughput. This upgrade also includes the latest in Solid State Drive technology, featuring speeds over twice as fast as conventional hard disk drives and data loss protection from unexpected power loss. Microtech is the first vendor in this market to incorporate the new SSDs, providing extremely fast boot up times, the benefits of a lower power consumption and heat generation, and data protection.
The 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Processor has also been incorporated into the XE platform. This upgrade provides an improvement of over 50% in processing power over the older system. With twice the memory, and a larger SATA 6Gb/s enterprise hard disk, the XE capabilities have been extended to also support the highest speed Blu-ray Disc™ writing along with a very snappy response.
According to CEO Corwin Nichols, “This is perhaps the most significant upgrade we could provide our customers in this high definition, data hungry environment. Together, these system upgrades contribute to a richer on-screen appearance with lightning-quick response while reducing data loss scenarios and improving overall system reliability. It also assures our customers are prepared for the next edition of Windows we all seeing coming in the not too distant future…”
Microtech plans to incorporate the same processing technology on their “Full Sled” system upgrades available to current users with no change in price until the end of October, when new pricing will kick in for the upgrades effective November 1.
