My Eye Media announced that it has upgraded its status in the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) from General to Contributing Member.
According to the statement, this move allows My Eye Media to play an active role in Blu-ray Disc (BD) format creation, attend general meetings/seminars, and participate in technical expert groups, regional promotion projects and Compliance Committee activities. Contributors pay an annual fee of $20,000 to the BDA.
My Eye Media CEO Michael Kadenacy, said the upgrade in the company’s membership level demonstrates its commitment to the longevity and vitality of the BD format, and to clients who release their products on Blu-ray.
My Eye Media provides independent, third-party clinical analysis and technical services to the entertainment industry. Two years ago, My Eye Media launched Blu-qual, a Blu-ray Disc testing solution designed to analyze the complexities of this emerging home entertainment medium.
According to My Eye Media Chief Technology Officer Steve Waugh, the company created and implemented Blu-qual to capitalize on its core strengths — unique testing methodologies, technical proficiency and proprietary database technology — for the maximum benefit of its clients. In doing so, Waugh said, My Eye Media has set the standard for quality assurance testing in the Blu-ray Disc market.
