Panasonic and RAIDIX Update Optical Disc Library for Long-Term Storage of Digital Archives
03.09.2019 — Panasonic Corporations and RAIDIX company are happy to introduce remastered Panasonic LB-DH7 library for secure long-term data storage. Fingertip control and increased fault-tolerance of cold data storage are ensured with more capacious optical discs as well as the new release of RAIDIX RASP software.
Panasonic LB-DH7 robotic library employing optical discs corresponds to the needs of archive funds, museums, libraries, research centers, and other data-rich facilities worldwide that are constantly looking for long-term storage solutions. Comparing to widespread LTO storage, Scalable Optical Disc Library stores digital data at a lower cost and is more reliable, preserving cultural assets and advance academic archives.
Optical discs in Panasonic LB-DH7 are assembled in the special waterproof cartridges, resistant to mechanical damages, sun exposure, and temperature changes. Compared to the previous version of the library, Archival Discs cartridges are now 3.6 Tb each. Against LTO technology, read and write operations are executed with no electromagnetic and mechanical contact with the surface of the discs. Robotic technology by Panasonic allows the modular building of the library and makes it easy to scale the solution according to the changing tasks and requirements in storage capacity.
Meeting new hardware architecture of the solution, RAIDIX team has issued a new release of RAIDIX RASP software (RAIDIX Archival Solutions for Panasonic). It merges methods of storage, ideal for both cold and hot data, into one united complex. RAIDIX RASP software allows synchronization of the archive library with existing customer IT infrastructure and provides easy-to-use library management interface.
Our cooperation with RAIDIX has been blooming since 2016, and we highly appreciate this professional software team creating and supporting software solutions for Panasonic storage. We thrive to perfect functionality of our systems together with our partner to exceed the expectations of the market, — comments Evgeny Karpov, Head of Data Safety and Data Storage Department, Panasonic Russia.
RAIDIX team also gives the highest ratings to results of the cooperation and sees great perspectives of the joint storage solution worldwide.
