LAS VEGAS, NJ (January 5, 2011) – Panasonic announced today that its VIERA® TC-P42S30 Full HD Plasma HDTV has received an International CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Award in the Eco Design and Sustainable Technology product category. This model combines eco sensibility with superior product performance and enhanced networking functionality in a slim profile and eye-pleasing design.
The Panasonic VIERA™ TC-P42S30, a 42-inch class (41.6” measured diagonally) features fast-switching phosphors, for artifact-free motion resolution; 600Hz Sub-field drive; three HDMI connections; two USB ports; Easy IPTV; VIERA Image Viewer for easy access to photos and movies recorded on an SD Memory Card; DLNA; VIERA Link and a Game Mode.
Panasonic’s VIERA TC-P42S30 Plasma HDTV is manufactured with environmental preservation in mind. Components used in the product assembly include lead-free front and rear panels. The product also uses lead-free electrodes and protective coatings helping it meet the RoHS Directive design benchmark for limiting the use of potentially hazardous substances.
Panasonic’s company-wide commitment to sustainability and producing products that are ecologically sound is evidenced in the enhanced life span of the Plasma HDTVs and the absence of lead or mercury in the panels. Improved power efficiency has been addressed with, among other technology advances, new and improved phosphor mixtures and more efficient electronics.
Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and journalists to honor outstanding design and engineering in consumer electronics products across 35 categories.
Sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, producer of International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, the Innovations Design and Engineering Awards have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.
The Innovations entries are judged based on the following criteria:
* Engineering qualities, based on technical specs and materials used
* Aesthetic and design qualities
* The product’s intended use/function and user value
* Unique/novel features that consumers would find attractive
* How the design and innovation of the product compares to other products in the marketplace
