Pioneer Launches Four New External BD DVD CD Writer Models
Compact, ultra-lightweight clamshell type body compatible with USB 3.2 Gen1 (USB Type-C®)
Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today unveiled its new external BD/DVD/CD writer. The advanced BDR-XD08UMB-S model features the latest high-grade rubber coating, while the BDR-XD08B/BDR-XD08S/BDR-XD08G standard model is based on the concept of ease of use.
The BDR-XD08UMB-S is equipped with features for enjoying music on a PC, such as the latest and most powerful version PureRead4+*1, which faithfully reads audio CD data.
BDR-XD08B/BDR-XD08S/BDR-XD08G is equipped with PureRead3+*1. In addition, all models include a Type-C conversion cable, providing easy connection to PCs equipped with Type-C connectors, and an L-shaped USB cable that allows you to connect to the drive in either direction. Also, CyberLink® Media Suite 10 for Windows® OS is available for download free of charge using the bundled product key.
Other features include a new Custom Eco function that reduces power consumption.

Features
(1) Latest high-grade rubber coating (BDR-XD08UMB-S)
Featuring the latest high-grade rubber coating from Japanese coating manufacturer Musashi Paint Co., Ltd., which provides some of the best resistance against scratching and peeling in the industry. We have dedicated a great amount of care to the way the product feels when picked up, giving it a luxury feel.
2) Equipped with best-in-class PureRead 4+*1for accurate reading of CDs (BDR-XD08UMB-S)
PureRead adjusts the reading method and reads data again as necessary to minimize the occurrence of errors in data interpolation caused when scratches, fingerprints, or disc manufacturing defects prevent audio data from being read correctly during CD audio playback. This product features the latest and most powerful version, PureRead 4+, with significantly improved audio data read performance. BDR-XD08B/BDR-XD08S/BDR-XD08G are equipped with PureRead3+*1.
(3) Compact, ultra-lightweight body
• Clamshell type design enables the easy insertion and removal of a disc in a narrow space
• Ultra-lightweight body (230g / 0.51 lb) about the size of a CD case
• Reversible L-shaped USB cable allows you to place the drive to the left or right of the PC with ease*2

(5) Custom Eco function helps reduce the drive’s power consumption*3
If the drive does not receive any commands (instructions for operation) from the PC for a specified period, this function will reduce the drive’s power consumption, such as by stopping the disc from rotating or reducing the disc rotation speed. Shortening this specified period will make the drive enter the power saving mode earlier.
(6) Compatible with M-DISC™ for long-term data archiving
These products are compatible with M-DISC optical media for archiving, developed by US-based Millenniata Inc.
M-DISC format supports M-DISC DVD/BD media (including 25GB Single Layer (SL), 50GB Dual Layer (DL) and 100GB Triple Layer (TL)).

Playback of Ultra HD Blu-ray™ requires a separate device that supports HDMI2.0a, HDCP2.2, HDR (recommended) standards and a CPU that supports Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX) technology. Intel SGX has been removed from Intel 11th generation and newer CPUs, and support for SGX may be removed on new versions of Intel drivers or utility programs such as Intel SGX and Intel Management Engine drivers and firmware in the future. Such changes could cause these platforms to lose support for Ultra HD Blu-ray movie disc playback.
