Scenarist Debuts HDR10+ Authoring Workflow at CES 2018
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (January 09, 2018) – Scenarist®, LLC, the developer of Hollywood-standard Ultra HD Blu-ray authoring systems based in Marin County, California debuted at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada a new authoring workflow that easily enables the creation of Ultra HD Blu-ray format titles incorporating new high dynamic range dynamic metadata called HDR10+. The new workflow will allow major content holders to utilize HDR10+ in their Ultra HD Blu-ray title releases in 2018 and beyond.
HDR10+ utilizes dynamic metadata encoded into the video stream that allows a HDR10+ enabled TV to adjust brightness on a scene-by-scene or even frame-by-frame basis. By contrast, standard HDR10 uses static metadata which doesn’t allow for brightness adjustments within a video stream. Amazon began streaming content encoded with HDR10+ metadata at the end of December, and Warner Bros. recently announced their plans to support HDR10+ with their 2018 slate and catalog of 4K HDR titles.
“HDR10+ represents the perfect step-forward in the HDR image quality evolution to enable displays that look their best, all the time” said Bill Mandel, vice president Industry Relations at Samsung Research America. “We are excited to be working with Scenarist as they bring these straight forward workflows to the post-production community.”
Scenarist is adding HDR10+ support into its Scenarist UHD authoring system which is used by the majority of professional authoring facilities worldwide to produce Ultra HD Blu-ray releases.
“We are committed to the mission of providing our customers with the most complete authoring capabilities possible for creating their Ultra HD Blu-ray titles. Adding support for HDR10+ into Scenarist UHD fits perfectly with that commitment,” said, Rolf Hartley, managing partner at Scenarist in Marin County, California. “We are delighted to be working with the team at Samsung Research America to enable HDR10+ support for customers worldwide.”
Scenarist will be demonstrating the HDR10+ authoring workflow in the Blu-ray Disc Association press suite located in Westgate Hotel Suite 2993 at CES on January 9– 10 in Las Vegas. Contact info@scenarist.com for more information or to schedule a demonstration.
