Bob Scaglione Named Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Sharp® Electronics Corporation
MAHWAH, NJ–(October 15, 2010) – Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC) today announced that Bob Scaglione has been named chief marketing officer (CMO). In this position, Mr. Scaglione is responsible for heading up a new business development team to promote opportunities, cross-pollination, and cooperation across business units and categories to further strengthen the Sharp brand in the U.S. He will report directly to Mr. Kozo Takahashi, SEC chairman and CEO, and play a key role in supporting Mr. Takahashi’s vision to drive innovation-based growth at the company.
Most recently, Mr. Scaglione served as senior vice president and group manager for Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America. He led the marketing and product development of Sharp’s lineup of consumer audio and video products, including the company’s AQUOS Quattron HD and 3D LCD TVs with quad pixel technology, as well as appliances.
Scaglione joined Sharp in 1989 as sales manager for audio/video products. He went on to serve as marketing manager for televisions, as well as national sales and merchandising manager for camcorders. He also helped launch Sharp’s LCD and HDTV products while serving as the associate VP of sales and marketing for the Digital Products Division.
“Bob’s record of great accomplishment and experience in audio/video, television and CE products in general makes him ideally suited to taking a larger leadership role that is more central to the company’s future success,” said Mr. Takahashi. “He has proven himself a strong leader and innovative thinker time and again over his 21 years with Sharp. We are very fortunate to be able to appoint him to this position.”
Prior to joining Sharp he was a buyer for Abraham & Straus. Mr. Scaglione holds a B.S. in marketing from the University of Scranton.
