Sony Deploys ACCESS NetFront Browser on Blu-ray Players

ACCESS CO., LTD. announced that its NetFront Browser will be provided on the newly-announced Sony Blu-ray Disc (BD) Player models BDP-S370, BDP-S470, BDP-S570 and BDP-S770. Sony’s Blu-ray Disc Player lets users watch BBC iPlayer programs in high-resolution.

According to the statement, ACCESS has extended the capabilities of its NetFront Browser to support services like BBC iPlayer, an increasingly popular video streaming service in the UK. By connecting a Blu-ray Disc Player to a digital TV, users can watch high-resolution TV content streamed over the Internet via services like BBC iPlayer.

NetFront Browser is an advanced, versatile and powerful full Internet browser for mobile and beyond-PC devices. With its low power consumption, easy customization and a broad range of plug-ins, NetFront Browser has been deployed on numerous networked devices around the world. NetFront Browser with optional video streaming support for Web Video Services can reduce the time to market for manufacturers who wish to offer this capability on information appliances, such as digital TVs, set top boxes, BD players and game consoles.

NetFront Browser has already been deployed on numerous digital TVs shipped in Japan and has supported major video streaming services since 2007.

“We are pleased that Sony has chosen NetFront Browser to equip their new Blu-ray Disc Player series,” said Tomihisa Kamada, president, CEO and co-founder of ACCESS. “We hope NetFront Browser’s video streaming capabilities will accelerate the development of even more new information appliances for innovative online entertainment services. ACCESS will continue to help manufacturers of networked and mobile devices create value-added products that bring an enhanced digital lifestyle to people all over the world.”
