Sony’s UBP-X700 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player complements the HDR viewing experience as it supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision™[1] via a Firmware Update Available this Summer

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2018 — 5pm PT (CES, Booth #17300) – Sony Electronics announced today the UBP-X700 4K Dolby Vision capable Ultra HD Blu-ray™ Player and STR-DH790 Dolby Atmos Enable AV receiver, bringing the home theater experience to a new level. These new home video and audio products provide consumers with the freedom to choose the best combination of devices to fit their unique entertainment needs. The UBP-X700 adds to Sony’s current range of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Players that produces a much wider range of color than standard HD players, and produces contrast and brightness that makes the picture display closer to real life. To complement the UBP-X700, Sony is extending its already well-established home theater selection with the new STR-DH790 7.2ch 4K HDR AV Receiver. The Sony STR-DH790 completely envelops the audience in sound with Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X™ support.

Pair them up
4K Ultra HD Blu-ray playback shows everything in finer detail for a more real-life picture. Optimizing the way the HDR picture is delivered from the player to the TV screen, the UBP-X700 will support HDR10 and Dolby Vision for ground-breaking detail, color and brightness. The STR-DH790 can pass through HDR10 and Dolby Vision signal without any loss.

For genuine cinema sound to match lifelike picture quality, connecting the player and AV receiver together offers startling clarity. The STR-DH790 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to give the sense of a real lightning crackle in the sky or sirens wailing through city streets from the 5.1.2 channel set up.

The UBP-X700 offers access to a world of 4K streaming services, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. This player also supports a broad range of video and music formats, including MP4, DSD, FLAC, and others.

Easy Setup with Advanced D.C.A.C.
Both the UBP-X700 Player and the STR-DH790 AV Receiver have a thinner and more compact body that will fit seamlessly into any home. Designed with the average living room in mind, the STR-DH790 makes it easy to configure the speaker setup thanks to its Advanced D.C.A.C. (Digital Cinema Auto Calibration) automatic speaker setup system. With the use of a plug-in provided microphone, the Advanced D.C.A.C. uses a series of test tones to determine the proper speaker levels, based on the detected placement of speakers in relation to the acoustical properties of the room.

Also announced today is the Sony STR-DH590 5.2ch 4K HDR AV Receiver compatible with HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats and the STR-DH190 2ch Receiver with a low-profile design and volume offset. The STR-DH190 has Bluetooth standby capabilities, phono inputs and four analog audio inputs.
