STEWART FILMSCREEN INTRODUCES DAILY DUAL SCREEN SYSTEM, ENABLING SEAMLESS SWITCHING FROM 2D TO 3D VIEWING

– Single package gives the operator a choice of two screen surfaces, including Silver 3D

– One screen is fixed and the second is on an electronically controlled retractable screen

– Allows for dual-purpose 2D and 3D functionality in the same space

– Multipurpose rooms can be optimized for viewing in both absolute light controlled conditions and higher ambient light situations

Torrance, CA and Atlanta, GA (CEDIA) – September 22, 2010 – Stewart Filmscreen Corporation®, the industry leader in precision projection screen technologies residential and commercial markets, announces Daily Dual – a new projection screen product targeted for screening rooms and multi-purpose media rooms that have the need for two screen surfaces ready-available in the same frame.

As the demand for 3D in the home continues to grow, dealers and installers need to respond by adding silver screens to their portfolio, the Daily Dual allows existing rooms to be quickly and cost-effectively converted to dual 2D/3D screen functionality. Users can easily select the desired screen, instantly switching the configuration from one format to the other without any need for room conversion or additional setup time.

“Daily Dual is ideal for applications in which both 2D and 3D are desired, it gives the client the best of both worlds,” said Joaquin Rivera, Stewart Filmscreen Director of Sales North America Consumer Products. “This highly innovative product allows dealers to install a single screen assembly that goes from one material to another at the touch of a button. For example, a dedicated home theater room can combine a Silver 3D screen on the Tension & Grommet frame, with a StudioTek 100 reference screen on the roller, thus enabling the room to seamlessly accommodate both active and passive 3D as well as 2D work while providing optimal, no compromise image quality for all formats.”

The patent-pending Daily Dual allows users to select the ideal image surface for each screen’s application, with any Stewart screen material available. A multi-purpose media room could feature a FireHawk G3 material for enhanced viewing of sporting events in daytime ambient light situations and a StudioTek 100 G3 for critical reference environment viewing of Blu-ray movies. In use, each surface appears as a beautifully matted permanently framed installation, but only one of the surfaces is fixed. The other is an electrically operated roller screen that descends into a shadow box mask. The configuration allows operators to go back and forth from one surface to another at will, either at the touch of a button or a serial controller command, eliminating setup time and room cross booking conflicts.

The product will be on display at Stewart Filmscreen’s Booth #2026 in the Georgia World Congress Center during CEDIA, September 22-26, 2010.
