Swissbit Introduces High Performance PCIe-SSD N-30m2
Bronschhofen, Switzerland. June 21, 2022 – Swissbit is pleased to announce the launch of its latest high performance PCIe SSD series. By combining performance, endurance, and large storage capacity in a compact PCIe M.2 module, Swissbit has expanded its range of storage solutions for the most demanding applications with its new N-30m2 range. Customers in the industrial, NetCom and automotive sectors benefit from exceptional write performance that requires no active or passive cooling even at high temperatures. As a result, the N-30m2 is an excellent choice for fanless and enclosed embedded systems. For maximum reliability in mission-critical applications, the series is optionally available with Swissbit’s industry-leading “powersafe” power loss protection technology. The PCIe-SSD is available in both M.2 2242 and M.2 2280 form factors with storage capacity ranging from 240 GB to 3.84 TB. The N-30m2 series will be showcased for the first time at embedded world in Germany (June 21-23) in Hall 1 at Booth 534.
“The new N-30m2 range is the top choice for any applications demanding sustained high performance for write-intensive workloads. PCIe Gen3x4, NVMe 1.3, and onboard DRAM deliver the required performance, making it ideal for use as a boot medium as well as for data recording and logging. As our top-performing industrial SSD, it combines durability, greatest reliability, and lifetime data integrity, even in extreme environmental conditions,” says Roger Griesemer, General Manager Memory Solutions at Swissbit.
The new SSD series is based on industrial-grade 3D TLC NAND and can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 to +85 °C. The PCIe 4-lane interface follows the PCIe 3.1 specification and provides sequential read and write bandwidths of up to 3,500 MB/s and 3,100 MB/s, respectively. For read and writes, random access achieves more than 475,000 and 525,000 IOPS, respectively.
Storage capacity for the N-30m2 with 3D TLC NAND will range from 240 GB to 3.84 TB. Of course, Swissbit will also offer a pseudoSLC version of its N-36m2 range for even greater endurance requirements, allowing for a 10x higher write load. This version will be available in capacities ranging from 80 to 320 GB.
As an option: Industry-leading PLP protection “powersafe”
For maximum reliability, especially in mission-critical applications, the N-30/36m2 is optionally available with the enhanced “powersafe” PLP level. The special “powersafe” feature secures data in the event of a sudden power failure even during the transfer from the host to the controller (dynamic data) or from the DRAM to the NAND (cached data). Intelligent energy management in the firmware and the use of reliable tantalum capacitors, which store energy during SSD operation, make this feasible.
