Although compatible computer recorders have yet to be released and blank discs promise to be scarce and deathly expensive, CyberLink Corp. has taken the plunge and announced that its Power2Go 7 software will support the new 100/128 GB writable BDXL Blu-ray Disc (BD) format.

Sony Unveils Quad-Layer Write-Once Professional Disc for XDCAM

Sony Corporation announced that it has expanded its XDCAM Professional Disc product line with the addition of a quad-layer 128GB disc with more than 2.5 times the capacity of the dual-layer 50GB disc and 5.5 times the capacity of the single-layer 23GB disc, both of which are currently available in the market.

Panasonic Unleashes Six New BDXL Blu-ray Recorders

Panasonic Corporation announced that it will launch six new Blu-ray Disc (BD) / DVD recorders compatible with the new BDXL format. According to the statement, the new DMR-BWT3100 (2TB HDD), DMR-BWT2100 (1TB HDD), DMR-BWT1100 (500GB HDD), DMR-BW890 (1TB HDD), DMR-BW690 (500GB HDD) and DMR-BR590 (500GB HDD) will be available in Japan on September 15, 2010.
