Some sad news today. Technicolor announced layoffs at its optical disc (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) replication and distribution facility in Olyphant, PA, which it purchased from Cinram Group at the end of last year.
According to published reports, as many as 50 people will be let go.
In a provided statement to Hugh’s News, Lane Cooper, the company’s VP of Corporate Communication, said “to remain competitive in the extremely dynamic entertainment technology sector, Technicolor continuously looks for operational efficiencies and synergies to maintain the best cost structure for meeting the needs of our customers. As a result of this ongoing review, we must announce a reduction in force at our Olyphant PA facility.”
Additionally, “because we know that this decision will have a significant impact on our employees and their families, we at Technicolor are committed to providing support and assistance during the transition process. Our HR and management teams have already begun to meet individually with all impacted employees to discuss timelines and options for next steps.”
