Some sad news today. It has come to our attention that Technicolor Home Entertainment Services is planning additional layoffs at its optical disc (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) replication and distribution facility in Olyphant, Pennsylvania.
In an official notice sent to the local mayor, Sandra Breeden, Vice President of Human Resources for Technicolor, indicates that 96 people will be permanently let go with most of the layoffs occurring between March 14th and 28th and the remainder by the end of July. This follows a reduction of roughly 50 workers at the same location a little less than a year ago.
Purchased from Cinram Group at the end of 2015 and employing thousands in its heyday, published reports suggest the Olyphant site will be home to as few as 300 people after this round of cuts is complete.
