Yamaha Goes Classic: Hi-Fi Components Combine Rock-Solid Vintage Design, Modern Sonic Purity
New Stereo Receivers, Integrated Amplifier and Matching Tuner Give Vintage Audio Enthusiasts the Best in Classic Appearance with Cutting-Edge Features and Performance
Buena Park, Calif. — October 4, 2010 — Yamaha Electronics Corporation, the innovator in home theater and digital audio and video reproduction, today introduced five new Hi-Fi components combining vintage designs, modern features and absolute sonic purity. The new lineup includes the R-S700, R-S500 and R-S300 stereo receivers, plus the A-S500 integrated amp and T-S500 matching tuner. These exciting new models give classic audio enthusiasts a winning combination of attractive, retro design harkening back to the finest Yamaha components of the 1970s and 1980s, along with the connectivity and internal design features required to anchor a modern audio system comprising both digital and analog sources.
“Our new Hi-Fi stereo receivers, integrated amp and tuner give vintage audio enthusiasts new options to revitalize the excitement and pleasure of experiencing the finest audio components of decades-past while leveraging the full benefits of Yamaha’s industry-leading modern technology,” said Tom Sumner, President, Yamaha Electronics Corporation. “Along with muscular vintage designs reminiscent of earlier, highly regarded Yamaha stereo receivers, amps and tuners, these systems provide total sonic purity and refinements—such as a special power supply for the clearest sound from iPods, multi-zone capabilities, Yamaha ToP-ART circuitry and the latest amplifier designs.”
The R-S700, R-S500 and R-S300 stereo receivers were created by those obsessed with sound and for those who just love great music. With their uncluttered extruded aluminum front panels, robust, silky touch knob designs and overall brawny appearances, the new receivers honor Yamaha design tradition with their appealing cosmetics and uncompromising quality. Ideally suited to anchor an audiophile-grade music system, the R-S700 offers 100 watts per channel output, while the R-S500 delivers 75 watts per channel output, and the R-S300 provides 50 watts per channel output.
For those preferring a truly classic separate component design, Yamaha is also offering the A-S500 integrated amp and T-S500 matching tuner. With 85 watts per channel output, dual aluminum extruded heat sinks and the highest-quality parts, the A-S500 is a work of audio technology art. Yamaha’s Pure Direct technology enables signal to travel the shortest possible route, bypassing non-essential circuitry and tone controls for the purest reproduction of sound. With a full array of digital AM/FM tuning capabilities and features, the optional T-S500 tuner is an excellent addition to the A-S500.
Compatible with Yamaha’s optional YDS-12 wired, and YID-W10 wireless docks, the new receivers and integrated amplifier deliver the best possible sound from iPods and iPhones by leveraging the docks’ independent power supplies, resulting in a higher signal-to-noise ratio. The units also utilize a balanced system to receive the signal from the iPod/iPhone, which further reduces voltage noise for higher sound quality. In addition, the receivers feature compatibility with Yamaha’s YBA-10 Bluetooth wireless audio receiver, providing even more audio input flexibility.
Additional connectivity features include subwoofer outputs on all models as well as a phono input, enabling users to enjoy the full sonic glory of their vinyl collections. Top quality gold speaker connectors (R-S700 and A-S500) complete the signal chain for the purest possible sound.
Each of the receivers and the integrated amplifier boasts Yamaha’s acclaimed ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) with ART base chassis construction to fully protect audio signals from noise and vibration.
ToP-ART is a Yamaha design philosophy whose goal is maximize digital quality while minimizing analog circuitry. The culmination of Yamaha’s long experience in digital engineering and design, it brings together several key elements to create top quality audio components.
The R-S700 and R-S500 integrated receivers feature Yamaha’s Zone 2 technology, making it easy for someone in another room to listen to music and even control playback. Both models also offer A, B or A+B speaker selection. The R-S700 even provides a second remote unit for controlling operation of the main system from Zone 2. All of the receivers and the integrated amplifier include newly designed, ergonomic remote controls.
In Yamaha’s continued drive for eco-friendliness, all of the new models incorporate advanced power management features such as Auto Power Off, which automatically powers the unit off after a certain amount of time to conserve energy.
