Buena Park, CA — September 27, 2010 — Yamaha Electronics Corporation, the innovator in home theater and digital audio and video reproduction, today introduced the RX-V867 A/V receiver (95W x 7), topping off the company’s highly regarded “67” series—one of the most popular, affordable A/V receiver lines to ever hit the market.
The new receiver, which joins four other models (RX-V367 $249.95 MSRP, RX-V467 $379.95 MSRP, RX-V567 $479.95 MSRP, RX-V667 $599.95 MSRP) low- to mid-priced models, is packed with the latest A/V technologies, including simultaneous Dual HDMI Outputs, Network capabilities, as well as 3D Video and the latest HD Audio support. Sporting an MSRP of $899.95, the RX-V867 breaks the price barrier for a traditional A/V receiver heralding these much-demanded features.
“Our ‘67’ series receivers have been met with great enthusiasm by budget conscious A/V enthusiasts, due to their remarkable versatility, connectivity and functionality at extremely attractive price points,” said Tom Sumner, President, Yamaha Electronics Corporation. “The new RX-V867 rounds out the line beautifully, in that it provides the latest in true high-definition entertainment, along with strong feature set one would expect from a Yamaha receiver.”
As with the existing models in the “67” series, the RX-V867 provides a thrilling 3D and HD audio surround sound experience for A/V aficionados who want to get the most out of their Blu-ray disc players, broadcast HD services and gaming consoles, as well as 3D televisions. In addition, the new on-screen display GUI with album art can overlay on HD and 3D sources.
The RX-V867 takes thing up a notch in several areas. First, advanced network functions, which are DLNA V 1.5 certified, allow users to enjoy Internet Radio (MP3/WMA), popular streaming services such as Rhapsody® and Sirius Internet Radio, as well as music files stored on their PCs (WAV, MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC 96/24).
Additionally, the RX-V867 is equipped with Dual HDMI outputs, allowing for the two simultaneous outputs for multiple displays, or combination projector/flat screen television.
It also incorporates the latest A/V technologies, including 3D and Audio Return Channel support over HDMI 1.4a (6 in/2 out), HD Audio decoding with the company’s proprietary CINEMA DSP 3D technology, Powered Zone 2, and Party Mode, where all zones can be made to play the same source material.
Rounding out the RX-V867’s capabilities, Yamaha’s IntelliAmp technology enables users to assign amplifiers for bi-amp configuration, surround back, front presence or Zone 2 connection. In addition, the built-in Yamaha YPAO automatic calibration instantly makes system adjustments to best match the room in which the system is placed, resulting in optimum sound.
Pristine audio quality is also provided by the model’s discrete amp configuration, Pure Direct for HD Audio and Video, as well as jitter-free PLL circuitry. The RX-V867 offers Deep Color (30/36 bit) technology, x.v.Color, 24Hz Refresh Rates, audio input assign capability for HDMI and component video inputs and Auto Lip-Sync compensation, which automatically eliminates audio/video sync issues.
To enhance the enjoyment and sound reproduction of music found on portable audio devices, the RX-V867 can be used in conjunction with Yamaha’s optional YDS-12 Dock, YID-W10 Wireless Transmitter, or YBA-10 Bluetooth wireless Audio Receiver.
The YDS-12 connects to the receiver with a single cable, allowing the user to control their iPod or iPhone with the receiver’s remote control. The YID-W10 is a wireless transmitter that employs Yamaha’s “yAired” technology and enables remote wireless audio playback of content stored on an iPod or iPhone through the RX-V867. The YBA-10 can stream music from Bluetooth A2DP enabled mobile phones and personal computers to the receiver.
The Yamaha RX-V867 is available from authorized Yamaha dealers, retailers and online from Yamaha.
