Yamaha Announces Spring 2016 Timeframe for DTS:X Firmware Updates for Select AV Receivers, an AV Processor and Sound Bars
New Formats are Designed to Elevate Users’ Cinematic Experiences to New Levels of Realism
BUENA PARK, Calif. — February 17, 2016 — Yamaha today announces the forthcoming availability of DTS:X technology for select AVENTAGE AV receivers, an AV processor and a sound bar via firmware updates that will enable the latest three-dimensional listening experience at home. These firmware updates will be available in early March for the AV receivers/processor and late April for the YSP-5600 sound bar.
The CX-A5100 AV processor and the RX-A3050, RX-A2050, RX-A1050 AV receivers all currently support Dolby Atmos and soon will be more agile with the addition of DTS:X for home theater use.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are both object-based surround formats that place and move sounds freely in a three-dimensional axis, including overhead, as the movie sound track designer originally intended. These new formats are designed to elevate users’ cinematic experiences to new levels of realism.
With the CX-A5100, Yamaha enables CINEMA DSP (a proprietary sound field processor) to be applied to both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X during playback. By applying CINEMA DSP, the user will be immersed even further and feel as if they are right in the middle of the scene.
Already the world’s first sound bar with Dolby Atmos, the YSP-5600 will now also hold the title as the world’s first sound bar with DTS:X technology. With this sound bar, users can enjoy immersive 3D sound reproduction equivalent to a 7.1.2-channel system. Yamaha is able to realize the enveloping sound field by using its Digital Sound Projector technology. The YSP-5600 recreates the placement of all the speakers by using sound beams that reflect off of surrounding walls and now off the ceiling to bounce back to the listener’s position. This robust sound system enables users to enjoy a breathtaking three-dimensional sound experience from a single sound bar.
About DTS:X
DTS:X is the next generation object-based, multi-dimensional audio technology from DTS. Unbound from channels, DTS:X conveys the fluid movement of sound to create an incredibly rich, realistic and immersive soundscape – in front of, behind, beside and above the audience – more accurately than ever before. DTS:X offers the ability to automatically adapt the audio to the speaker layout that best fits the space, from a television’s built-in speakers to a home surround theater system to a dozen or more speakers in a commercial cinema.
