Yamaha Releases DTS:X Firmware for Select Yamaha AV Receivers and AV Processor
Upgrade Enables the Latest Three-Dimensional Listening Experience at Home
BUENA PARK, Calif. — March 30, 2016 — Yamaha today announced that a DTS:X™ firmware update is now available for several of the company’s notable AV models that enable the latest three-dimensional listening experience at home.
The Yamaha CX-A5100 AV preamp processor, as well as the company’s AVENTAGE RX-A3050, RX-A2050 and RX-A1050 AV receivers all currently support Dolby Atmos® and are now more versatile with the addition of DTS:X for home theater use.
DTS:X and Dolby Atmos are both object-based surround formats that place and move sounds freely in a three-dimensional axis, including overhead, as movie mixing engineers intended. These new sound technologies are designed to engage the audience by creating realism through a lifelike multidimensional audio experience.
“Yamaha is determined to provide the most immersive sound technologies available today and the DTS:X firmware update demonstrates our passion for sharing the latest in performance with our customers,” said Bob Goedken, general manager, AV division, Yamaha Corporation of America.
With the CX-A5100, Yamaha enables CINEMA DSP (a proprietary sound field processor) to be applied to both DTS:X and Dolby Atmos during playback. By applying CINEMA DSP, the user will be immersed even further and feel as if they are right in the middle of the scene.
